What the hell is Snake Drive?Snake Drive is Leicester's Nu Blues night. The name comes from an RL Burnside song and if you only buy one record this lifetime we'd advise you to buy RL's Arse Pocket Full of Whiskey. The plan is that Snake Drive will happen about once a month and will provide a focus for all of those bands out there that are doing something interesting that draws on the blues in some way. For the legions of people who bought the White Stripes album and want to hear more of this sort of stuff this is the place for you. So if you like the Stripes, the Stones, the Hives, Tom Waits, Howling Wolf, Captain Beefheart, the Immortal Lee County Killers, Dr Feelgood, the Clash, Muddy Waters, Edward W Clayborn, Ledbelly, Beck, Woodie Guthrie and Uncle Tom Cobbley and all this is the night for you. You usually get to see two or three bands plus some DJs all laying down their own broad interpretation of the bluesy vibe, plus you'll have the opportunity to get drunk! It can't really go wrong...can it? I wanna be a Snake DriverYeah, I know, you've got a band. You'd fit right in eh! Well email me at snakedrive@pigironjoe.biz and point me to an MP3 that you've put out there somewhere and I'll have a listen.
